No, you are not allowed to use a dictionary, thesaurus, translator, or any kind of study aid during the ELLT.

If an ELLT candidate has a special education need (SEN) then this should be reported to the ELLT Academic Team upon registration. The candidate must produce a medical report with the details of the diagnosis and any recommendations. We support candidates with SEN and will make any reasonable adjustments to help the candidate taking the test.

The range of modifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Extra time of up to 50% in the speaking test
  • Adjustment to the word count in the writing test
  • Live remote speaker for pre-recorded listening component/transcript read aloud

If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us. Learn more about SEN here.

The reading takes 40 minutes, the listening takes 25 minutes, the writing takes 1 hour, and the speaking test takes 20 minutes, so in total it can be completed in about 2 and a half hours.

Results

Your overall level reflects an average of the reading, listening, writing, and speaking scores, where each component is equally weighted.

Your ELLT certificate is valid for 18 months.

You can access your results and certificate via the ELLT portal using your login details. Feel free to contact us if you face any difficulty accessing your certificate.

Most results are sent within 48 hours after the completion of your speaking test. This is when no test discrepancies are found.  In case of any discrepancies, it might lead to a delay as the test then undergoes an investigation process. We highly recommend that you read your ELLT report to see which skills require further improvement and practice. We have a range of courses available to help boost your level. More details can be found here.

If all your 4 skills are at a B1+ or above, then we recommend taking the ELLT Preparation Course. This course  teaches you the techniques and strategies required to succeed in your ELLT and allows you to achieve the desired level. More details can be found here:
